The cultural project I am going to write about is the Nicaraguan New Year celebration. Like here in the United States, celebrations begin December 31. However, there are some differences.
One popular tradition, is to buy an old doll and fireworks. The doll is loaded with fireworks and then it is lit on fire. This is supposed to symbolize getting rid of the old and welcoming the new.
